Growing up in the Canal Zone we got used to watching SCN, but for those of us that knew how to speak Spanish...we ventured into the Spanish channels. Most of the commercials were recorded from old Sony Betamax tapes!
Telemetro Canal 13 began broadcasting on October 13, 1981. Founded by Nicolás González Revilla, as a metropolitan channel specializing in films. It began transmissions at 4:00 p.m. and ended at 9:00 p.m. The original purpose was to present films, but it stopped shortly after. However, it kept the slogan "Your Movie Channel" for years.
The expansion of Telemetro began in 1983, when it installed a relay antenna in Colón. In 1992, Telemetro became a national television service.
